Ordering procedure

The Procedure for ordering a wedding cake

When first contacting us about a wedding cake, we will initially need to check your wedding date for availability.  We also need to know your venue so we can check that we are able to deliver.

Let us have some information about the type of cake you would like and how many guests (including evening guests) you will be expecting.  From this, we can work out what size cake you need, and we'll try to give you a guide price.  If you're happy with the guide price given, we'll proceed to a more in depth chat about your cake design, and once your date has been secured with a booking fee (see 'Payment' at the bottom of this page) we can provide sketches if necessary. Please note that we do not offer a sketch for every cake as it's often not needed, but you can purchase one for a small fee if you would particularly like one.

About our cakes

About our cakes

All of our cakes are made by us on site, and as you would expect they are made with fresh quality ingredients, including free range eggs sourced from local supplier 'The Broken Egg' in Harleston. We use the finest Belgian chocolate, Bonne Maman and Wilkin & Sons Ltd conserves, and Scarlet and Mustard curds.

We're very proud of our melt in the mouth sponge cake recipe.  We know that what's inside is equally as important as the decoration, so we've worked very hard on our recipe and have been rewarded for it with recommendations from many venues and caterers as well as excellent reviews from our customers. To see some of these, follow the links to our Facebook and Instagram pages.

Our cakes are usually baked around 4 days in advance of the date you have given us for collection or delivery. This is necessary to allow us time to decorate it. If you are intending to eat your cake after this date, please contact us for advice as they do not contain the artificial preservatives of a shop bought cake. Usually our cakes are at their best quality for the arranged date, and good to eat for up to 3 days afterwards if stored correctly. We cannot be held responsible for any deterioration in quality after this.  Our recommendation is to freeze left over slices placed in freezer bags so you can continue to enjoy your special cake for months to come.

Special Dietary Requirements

If you have any special dietary requirements please let us know as soon as possible. If you or a guest has an allergy or food intolerance we can discuss the options available to you at your consultation.

We have developed excellent gluten free, dairy free and vegan cake recipes and have received superb feedback from our customers.

If you have a nut allergy we cannot guarantee to be entirely nut free but we can limit the possibility of contamination.

ALL OUR CAKES ARE PRODUCED IN A KITCHEN WHERE NUTS, GLUTEN, DAIRY AND LACTOSE ARE PRESENT.

Delivery

Wedding cakes:

Generally, most of our wedding cakes can only be delivered and set up by ourselves and we feel this is an important part of our service. We like to make sure that your wedding cake is in our control for as long as possible. To make your day that little bit easier we will contact your venue directly to organise the delivery and set up.

Delivery charges do apply at a rate of 55p per mile each way to your venue.  There are occasional exceptions to this however, if you are having a smaller wedding cake it may be possible for you to collect your cake the day before your wedding if you prefer.  We will box the cake securely and advise you on transportation and set up

Celebration cakes:

Celebration cakes are supplied on a collection only basis. When you collect your cake, it will be supplied in a sturdy box suitable for transport, and advice will be given.  We recommend transporting cakes in the boot of your car if possible, so please be sure that you have space before you arrive: the box will be larger than the cake itself

IMPORTANT NOTE

We reserve the right to make final decoration decisions on your cake.

Should any damage occur in transit we will endeavour to repair on site (we always carry an extensive repair kit with us).  If however we are not able to do this or if we are unable to provide your cake for any reason, wherever possible we will provide a suitable dummy cake from our show collection.

If we are responsible for failure to supply, a full refund will also be issued.
